Using your card overseas.
The Virgin Credit Card is a handy little travelling companion you can take with you to over 23 million places around the world (that's because it's a MasterCard).
What you can use it for.
You can use it as you would here in Australia. You can:
- buy things
- get a cash advance
- pay direct debit
- pay by BPAY online or over the phone.
If you're withdrawing cash from an ATM, just remember to use those that display one of these symbols:

Visit MasterCard.com for a list of countries where you can use your card.
Will a credit card be enough?
If for one reason or another you aren't able to use your credit card, be sure you always have a back-up plan - cash and travellers cheques ought to cover it.
What to do if you have a problem.
If your card is lost or stolen, call us by reverse charges immediately on +61 2 93747685.
If you need it replaced straight away, you can contact MasterCard directly and they can issue an emergency card or provide a cash advance. Visit MasterCard.com for more info.
Alternatively, we can courier a card to you. This takes about five days, and there's a charge involved. But you do need to know where you'll be and be available to collect it from the courier.
Let us know when and where you're going.
Then if our global security tracker, The Falcon, detects your card is being used overseas, we already know that you're shopping in Bangkok, Paris or wherever, and we know not to worry about this 'unusual spending' (or put a stop on your card).
Be contactable at all times (if possible).
That way we can reach you if absolutely necessary. Set up a personal email account, activate 'global roaming' on your mobile phone, or if you happen to be staying with rellies, give us their contact details.
Fees and currency conversion.
We charge a 2% fee on the Australian dollar conversion of any transaction made in a foreign currency. Just to let you know, Mastercard International also charges an Issuer Cross Border Assessment of 0.8% and a Currency Conversion Assessment fee of 0.2%, totalling 1% of the foreign transaction amount, which we pass on to you. This fee is shown separately on your statement.
Transactions are converted to Australian dollars at the rates set by MasterCard.
Other fees and charges, such as cash advance fees, do apply.
