Select Your Own.

Virgin Money’s D.I.Y. investment option for those who prefer super control, without the confusion. You can opt for the allocation of assets that best match your risk profile, and can easily change things around whenever you like online (just like you do with your bank accounts).

Choose your assets.

Diversification is a word that’s bandied about a bit when talking about investing, and in this context it means the spread of risk across a range of asset classes.  You can diversify how you see fit with Virgin Money’s Select Your Own super by deciding what percentage of your cash goes where.

Assets and investment risk
Australian shares The expected return is high over the long term, but the risk of short-term up and downs is greater.
International shares Similar to Australian shares.  Generally the expected return is high over the long term but the risk is greater.
Property Moderate to high risk investment, due to reliance on economic factors, location and quality.  Has a corresponding level of moderate to high returns.
Cash and fixed interest Low to moderate risk investment.  Less volatile than property and shares over the short term, but also provides a lower level of return.

Whichever way you choose to go, the Select Your Own investment mix needs to add up to 100 per cent.  For example, you could choose 50% property and 50% Australian shares, or you could split it four ways using whatever percentage allocation you like.

Changing your investment mix.

You can change the mix whenever you like, and we suggest a yearly asset allocation check-up to make sure it still reflects your attitude to risk.  Read about investment risk and return.

Remember, not only may your outlook change; your view on which asset classes are likely to strongly perform may well change.  To help members with this bigger picture thinking, we update this website with quarterly performance reports, and send out personal snapshots every six months.

Changing your investment mix is straightforward.  Read how to do this in Super FAQS - how do I change Virgin Super investment options?

It’s easy to join Virgin Super.

You can do so anytime by completing the Virgin Super online application form.  To see a bit of a backgrounder, check out how to join Virgin Super.
